"Father, help us to see the difference between a son and a servant. Show us why the servant does not stay in the house forever. Show us and help us to see it. We want to live and stay in your house forever! We don't want to be in your house one day, and the next day we are back to our own house. We don't want to ever leave Your house, but we want to abide there, forever!"
"And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever." John 8:35 We can now know that if we are sons, we are heirs with Christ, and if Christ is the Son and we are in Him and He is in us, we are wherever He is.
When we leave the house of the Father, our house becomes a house of confusion and double-mindedness. One day you are in the house of the Lord; another day you are in your own house, going your own direction. “Father, help us to understand that the only way to stay where You are is by abiding in Your Word!” The inheritance is for the sons of God. The abiding forever in His house is for His sons. Are you a son or a servant? You can be serving, but your mind and heart may be somewhere else. You may be serving and attending a place of worship, but are you washed in the blood and in the water of His Word?
Jesus said in John 8:30-59, only if we abide in His words are we His disciples. Start thinking about whether you are a disciple. The Word says if you STAY IN HIS WORD, you are a disciple! You can be a disciple and not be a sheep. You can be a servant and not be a son, but a slave. When Jesus said in John 8:32 that "ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," they thought they were free, but they answered him out of their own knowledge, intellect. They really believed they were not in bondage. Only those who are free can see those who are in bondage. "They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?" (verse 33). See, their kingdom, their minds, were carnal. They always lived by observation. They did not see that they were not free. They were actually in bondage to their own selves, to their own laws, to their own traditions. Jesus was talking about freedom in the Spirit, freedom from control of man and from the elements of this world.
If you are serving, you must be serving free indeed. They did not even see the bondage they were in. One thing is people who never saw the savior; another thing is you are walking with the savior and still are in bondage. Jesus said, "A servant abides not in the house forever!" (John 8:35). But when you are washed with the washing of the Word, you do. When you abide in the Word, you do abide in the house forever! Jesus left no room for compromise or debate. Jesus blew people's minds with the Truth. When Jesus mentioned in Matthew 13:4 the fowls eating the seeds, He was talking about satan. The world choking out the seed. If you are in religion, you serve, but you do not obey Him. You did Christian things, but you never followed Him! This is why He said in Mark 8:15, "Beware of the leaven of the pharisees and of Herod." Mixed things in with the Truth is not the Truth, but will bring you into bondage. You don't even know it is called deception and indoctrination, but if the Son is the bread, the bread will make you free, and you will be free indeed!
Knowing the Truth transforms you into the Truth! You become the image of the Truth here on Earth! What does the Father look like? Like the Son. None of us are there yet, but that is God's plan. If they see us, they need to see the Father. The more you eat Truth, the more your eyes are open. The more you eat Truth, the more you start looking like the Truth. Who is the Truth? Jesus.
To gain the inheritance that Jesus died for and to encourage us all into the image of Christ is not for the book of Acts church because this level of glory is for the latter house! They were not yet walking in the fullness. The Glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former (Haggai 2:9)! Jesus started seeing Himself in the pages of the book of prophecies, in all of the prophecies prophesied about Him during the Old Testament. He was the Word, He believed the Word, and lived the Word. He fleshed it out! The Word became flesh in Him, and the Word became Him, and He became the Word (John 1:14)! God does not want us to blame the sinful nature. That is called false humility. To believe in Him is the way to get the power to be transformed…Believing, receiving, submitting, washing in the water of the Word.
"I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you (verse 37). Has His Word a place in you? If it has not, you have no permanent place in the house of God. You will always be in and out! When Jesus says in John 8:37, My Word has no place, He meant that you are rebellious to the Word you see and hear.
Jesus, with confidence, said, "I know that ye are Abraham's seed" because "I am the One who spoke to Abraham!" Jesus does not just say things to prove Himself and to testify of Himself. He says things so that He could help them to think. It is not about saying a prayer and quoting Christian things! Even doing those things, His Word may not have a place in you and in all of us. We plant it, we water it, we let it grow, and when it is growing, He begins to prune it!
Now, they were just saying they were Abraham's father. Jesus was just dividing two groups of sonship: one from Abraham and one from the Father, one from the flesh and blood (natural lineage) and one from the Spirit (spiritual lineage). This Spirit sonship can only be manifested by obedience and by being born again. Let's read verse 38: "I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father." Because of your carnal thoughts, because of your pride, you think you are the sons of the inheritance. Jesus was speaking of things He saw with His father, and they were speaking of things they saw with their father.
Abraham was chosen, Abraham was full of righteousness, Abraham was doing what His father was doing. If they were sons of Abraham, they should do the works of Abraham. Jesus was challenging them in verse 39. If you are a son, you follow your father; if you are born of the Spirit, you walk in the Spirit. If you have not been born again, you are still a son of sin. It does not matter what nation you were born in, including if it is Israel.
This spirit of religion is still trying to kill Jesus (verse 40). Who is trying to kill the Truth today? The devil. But sons and daughters, they hold the Truth. Who is seeking to kill the Truth? Everything in this world. If they can't kill the Truth, they will pervert the Truth. If they can't kill you, they will try to pervert what you say, what you do, and who you are!
Is God your father? (verse 42). Loving someone testifies to works of serving! Servant is not even a bad thing, but what are you serving? A system, a building, a denomination, a man? For what reason? Are you serving and dying to live, and serving the Kingdom of God? If that is not the case, then you are self-serving! Our serving should illuminate who we serve and not ourselves. Some serve to be seen, some to be noticed, some because they are told to, but some serve because this is who they are. These are the ones who abide in the house forever.
If God were their father, they would have loved Jesus because Jesus came out of the Father. He was sent by God, and He is the visible image of God (Colossians 1:15). Jesus was loving them and telling them the Truth, even though He knew those words would have gotten them killed! But He spoke to them anyhow! They said they would never kill the prophets, but they were set to kill Jesus! Jesus was telling them, you say you would not have killed the prophets like your fathers did (Matthew 23:30), but now you do even worse, you will kill the Son of God. You are murderers because you are sons of sin, in need of a savior! Stop pouring lies out of your mouth. Stop repeating lies that satan speaks to you. Jesus always tells us the Truth. We must believe in what He says. Why don't we believe Him?
"Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me" (verse 49). Here is a good sign: If you dishonor the Word of God, you dishonor Jesus, who is the Word! Jesus said, I don't honor my own self, I honor my Father. If they were really the sons of Abraham, they would do the works of Abraham. Abraham honored the Word and God who is and was the Word.
Jesus was saying all of these to these highly esteemed people, "You dishonor me, Jesus." The devil is questioning you, and he is getting you to do all of these actions, works. "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad" (verse 56). They did not understand eternity. "Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?" (verse 57). How can Jesus see Abraham? How can Abraham ever have seen Jesus? BECAUSE… " Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am" (verse 58). Now, before Abraham was, we are as well! If you are crucified with Christ, if you no longer live for yourself, you have the same rights! Servants don't have rights! Only sons! Now we are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17)! Paul, the murderer of Christians, had the revelation. He had an encounter! His mind was open! His eyes were open! He was born again! Paul began to become THE book! It is not about what you do, but about an inheritance as a son! Sons honor the Father.
Here is the story of two sons in Luke 15:11-17. We always talk about the prodigal son. We are all prodigal sons before being saved. But let’s see this story with different eyes. This writing is about God the Father and the servants of His house, the servants of His house that never abide in His house. Nobody ever thinks about this part! So, let’s dig into it! This trillionaire son was getting ready to eat what the pigs were eating because of his heart and mind, and no man helped him (verse 16). God will not send help until we deal with our hearts and wrong identity. But he came to himself, to his senses (verse 17). He knew his father loved him.
In my father's house…he thought… “In my father's house, there are many hired servants”…all he wanted was to be among them (verse 17)! He was disqualifying himself as a son, still. He was putting himself on the level of a hired servant because of his choices, his sin, and his actions. But his thoughts were like…"Even the servants in my father's house have it better than me…"
There are many people who go to church, but they are not abiding in the house of the Father forever! They are filled with strange fire, strange desires, and they start convincing themselves that they are okay with God because they read the Bible. They are part of a group. They have a title, on and on, but they are not born again and have not a new heart and eyes. God is going to begin to wash our eyes. You can serve those you see. The older brother was inside the house of the father, but was filled with self-righteousness. Then the younger brother was coming to church, beating his chest, "I did it again!" The blind lead the blind! You are back to that place that God took you from. If you are the temple of the Holy Spirit, you are a house! God says, My church shall be a house of prayer for all the nations (Isaiah 56:7)!
If we stay in sin, we will never abide in His house forever. The other brother is not free. Actually, there are three living people in the house, but we only talk about the two (the older and the younger brother). But how about the servants who live in the house? They live in the house, but they don't stay in the house. The servant was in bondage to sin (Romans 6:16), the hireling sees all as a job, being paid to take care of the sheep (John 10:12), but no, freedom is for every day. If you are just a servant, you are a slave. You still see the serving as a job, a resource, and a way to make money. The servants are always all around the sons and in the house, but Jesus surely did stay in the house of the Father forever, and He is not only in the house of the House but seated at the right hand of the Father forever (Hebrews 1:3)!
The older brother is always serving by the law, filled with self-righteousness. The servants in the House (in the house, but they are not from the bloodline) are always serving because of money - a slave mentality. The Prodigal son wasted all his inheritance on his own self, thinking it was all about him, but found true repentance and found a new and real sonship mentality. Only one of them would abide in the house forever! Another quick example about sons in the house: Esau and Jacob. Esau could have been another picture of the older brother. Jacob could have been the younger brother (the prodigal son). The older brother, angry with jealousy, seeing all the blessing being poured over the younger brother (Genesis 27:41).
Jesus said in John 8:32, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free," meaning, "You shall know ME, and I shall set you free." Eat from this truth. Be aware of the leaven of the Pharisees, of Sadducees, and of Herods (Mark 8:15). Be aware of mixed man's traditions, man's religion, and man's manipulations! Eat from this bread, and you shall know Him, and you shall be set free! Honor this bread, and you shall honor the Father. Just eating the bread is the honor that our Father wants! Just eating the bread is the honor that the Body deserves!
It is not about saying "God this and God that" in front of people. You think you are so self-righteous. Honor the Body, and you honor Christ. Honor the Word in you, and you shall be honored by the Father. The prophet has no honor in his own house, nation, and family (Mark 6:4). But the prophet always honored the Father in God in all of us now! The Body has many members; when they move as one, as the Spirit moves in sync, you will not quench the Spirit.
These three groups of people in Matthew 13:24-30 were serving: serving themselves, serving doctrines and the law, and one was serving the Spirit of God! When there was time to gather them up (verse 29), which one was gathered first? The tares! BUT the wheat will be brought to the house, to the barn! The servant does not abide in the house forever, but the son! Tares and wheat will grow together (verse 30). They come from different seeds and have different fathers. They look similar, but their posture is different! Religion looks so similar. It has a Godly form (2 Timothy 3:5)! When the wheat becomes fruitful, the wheat can turn into bread! The wheat begins to bow over when it is time for the harvest and starts to give bud. So shall the house of God! His people shall not be complaining! They will be watching and praying. They won't be serving themselves. They are not those who are bowing to say a prayer, but before the Word and the Son. The testimony of Joseph will be seen once again; his other brothers will come and will bow as well! They bow, and the nation will be saved!
What happened to the son who left the house? He begins to want. The Lord starts not being His shepherd anymore (Psalm 23) because he starts wanting! When you start wanting, it means that you have left the house of God. He is the author and finisher of the faith (Hebrews 12:2). He makes me to lie down. I am not my own shepherd. The Lord is! I know His voice. If I walk through the valley of death in this world, He sets the table before me. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and surely…surely… I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Even David recognized he could dwell in the house just for a while, but he knew Jesus would make a way to dwell there forever. But this happens by the Lord being our shepherd, not by saying a prayer, following traditions, or by having a religious belief!
"And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever." John 8:35 So, we are no longer a servant but a son who abides in the house forever. The first son among many made a way for us to abide there. Let's make our abode with Him (John 14:23). Let's abide in the Truth as sons and daughters, and dwell there every day!
"I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." Psalm 23:6
