FIERY DART

“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Ephesians 6:14-16

The enemy spiritually attacks us in three different parts of our being, yet God has given us the full armor of God and has given spiritual weapons even from the Bible that shows us how to defend these three different parts of our being. The Spirit is God, and the flesh is dictated by either God or Satan based on this one part of our being, our soul. Our soul is the decider of who is the God of our life and who has the rights to control our life. There are three different parts to the soul, and the devil is trying to overtake our soul through these three different parts of our soul, but each of these different parts, God has given us a way to defend them. These are the devil's schemes, and these are our weapons.

1. The Mind

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

2. Will

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1

3. Emotions

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Ephesians 6:16

These are the three parts of the soul the enemy attacks, and these are the three ways we defend our soul that God would continue to be the possessor of our soul. Most people know how to defend the first two parts of the soul. Most know they should not entertain thoughts that are not from God. Most know that we are not to do our will, and we are doing His will. Yet many forget how to defend that one area of their emotions.

Many are a prisoner to their feelings. Little do they know that part of denying themselves is to deny what they feel. Our life is not our own anymore. In the Kingdom, it's no longer about our feelings or else we live and Christ is no longer manifest in our life, and because many of us still live by our feelings, the devil uses it to his advantage. Our life is not our own anymore; it's now about how He feels.

God showed me that there are fiery darts or fiery arrows that the enemy uses to take control of our emotions. Fire represents emotion at times in the Word, and the enemy puts fire on these arrows to stir up our feelings and get us to operate in the soulish realm rather than the spiritual. There are regular arrows of attack, and then there are fiery arrows that are lit to get us in our feelings so that we would get in the flesh. If we allow the enemy to overtake us through what we feel, it will leave a breech in our soul. Then our mind will start to be overtaken, the guard lifted off, and then it aims to overtake the central part of our soul, which is our will, our place of choice to choose godliness or ungodliness.

We need to keep every part of the soul protected. If one part of the soul is open to the enemy, the rest is compromised. When I get in my feelings, here comes the thoughts. When I allow the thoughts, then here come feelings, and when I do my own will, every area is compromised.

One part of the soul that is breached by the enemy leaves the rest of the soul vulnerable. We must dominate all three, and especially in this time, we need to realize that our feelings are not our friends. They are not our guide, and they will not help us advance in the Kingdom. They are there to drag us down and to keep us away from God and get us to worship ourselves. We must let how we feel die.

People say, "You hurt my feelings."

Gods says, “Let your feelings die.”

It's not about your feelings anymore because it's not about you. No more, "I feel, you feel." It’s how does He feel? God wants to align our feelings with His, but we can't do that if we keep entertaining our own. When our feelings die, His feelings arise within us. Yet we need to resist and extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy: The attacks of feeling the enemy puts on us. Events, situations happen, and feelings try to flood. Thoughts, temptations, tribulation come, and feelings flood in like fiery darts. Flaming arrows that are to burn us up.

We must extinguish them. We must put on the whole armor of God, and it says that the shield of faith in verse 16 of Ephesians 6 will extinguish the fiery darts. It puts out the flame of our feelings and gets us back in joy, peace, and righteousness. What is the shield of faith? Faith is the evidence of things hoped for. It is that deep knowing in us of what is invisible. The Bible also says that faith cometh through the word of God. It is evidence of what is true of the Word of God. It is something inside of me that affirms me of what is unseen. It is a manifestation of the flesh of the Word of God inside of us.

Faith is really the manifestation of the Word of God inside of us, and through that Word of God inside of us is how we overcome the fiery darts. The feelings. How did Jesus overcome Satan in the wilderness? The Word of God! The Bible says we walk by faith, not by sight. We walk by what the Word says or what the Word is saying out of His mouth, not what we see.

The same goes for our feelings. We walk by the Word of God, Rhema, and written and not by our feelings. Faith over feelings! Not by sight, not by feelings. Not by what the fiery darts of what the enemy wants to make us feel or think about something. If we kill our feelings and keep our feelings dead, the enemy will never have power over us through the realm of our emotion, and we will deflect all fiery darts.

The Bible says He is the author and finisher of my faith. When my feelings arise and try to burn me up within, I must keep my eye single and look upon the author that will not only finish me in faith but keep me walking in faith. When I look at Jesus, I look at my faith. When I look at my faith, Jesus, who was and is called the Word of God over what I feel, my feelings die because I am not giving into it; I am resisting.

I am submitting to Him by looking at Him and resisting satan by looking away from him. Getting my eyes off His schemes and looking at the Christ who is the light of my lamp that when I walk, I will not stumble. I will void his schemes and extinguish the fiery attacks. Looking at the author of my faith, I am submitting to God, and by not giving my feelings the time of day or focus, I resist the devil.

The Word of God is to tell me how I am to feel. The Spirit of God is to tell me how I am to feel. Not my fallen nature. Not my thoughts, not my will or emotions. This is what it looks like to be dead. Our soul is the thing that needs to be crucified, and as we do that, God renews it and brings it to life with resurrection power. You want to feel what God feels? Then start resisting your own feelings, and you will start to feel His heart.

Death to the flesh will make us unstoppable against the enemy. The flesh is the meat and tendons that the enemy has dressed our soul with. Yet now is the time to kill the flesh and strip ourselves down to the bones that God would say as He did in Ezekiel: 'Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!" When we strip the flesh of the world off us, we will no longer carry the feelings the world carries. As God attaches new tendons and flesh, our flesh will start to feel how He feels.

“He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.” Psalms 91:4-5

Truth shall be our shield, and we shall not be afraid of the arrow by day. We shall not be afraid of the fiery arrow by night. The shield of faith is the shield of truth. The breastplate of righteousness is the breastplate of truth. The helmet of salvation is the helmet of truth. The shoes of peace are the shoes of peace that comes by the truth. The belt of truth keeps our pants up, keeps our loins girted. All the things, righteousness, faith, peace, salvation has all come from truth. The Spirit of truth. When we walk by what is truth from God, whether it be on the topic of salvation, righteousness, peace, or faith, we can keep our loins girded and defend ourselves in every way from the enemy.

When he comes and attacks me with emotion and feeling, I will rise up with the shield of faith and say what does truth say! What does God think about it! How does God feel! What is God doing? I will look upon Him the truth of all truth. All truth leads to the Father! My feelings, fiery darts, fiery arrows will no longer have power over me because the truth dictates my mind, the truth dictates my will, and the truth dictates my feeling, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper!

Put on the whole armor of God. Let truth dictate all of your being and in every area of your life, and you will overcome. The lover of truth has victory in his or her hands. We shall live by truth and not by sight. We shall live by truth and not by our feelings. Jesus is the Word, He is the Truth, and to look at Him is to be filled with all truth. Let your eye be single and your whole body will be full of light. Let your eye be single on Him, and all attacks and all fiery darts will be extinguished. He is your shield. He is your shield of faith!
