Who is the Gardener in Your Heart?
Our hearts are like gardens and the gardener is God.
Steps of Gardening:
-
Plow the ground: Clean your heart; purification of your heart
-
Choose the seed to plant: The Word of God or the World, Satan
-
Plant the seeds: The Word of God
-
Water the Fertile Ground: The Sowers
-
Seeds will start growing roots: Roots and Fruit can only be grown by GOD! GOD gives the increase!
-
Roots: Establish deeply and firmly; the basic cause, source, or origin of something.
-
God’s Fruit!!!!!
God was showing me things that were planted in our hearts from when we were children & even adults, even to this day.
Whether we knew it or not. We’ve consumed our hearts with bad seeds because of: situations, parents, mistakes, hurt, embarrassment, pride, offenses, disappointments, the list goes ON! We have allowed these seeds to take root in our hearts. Now all of these seeds are in full bloom. They were not plucked out!
If it was not the Spirit of God that had planted it, who planted it? And who allowed it to grow? God or Satan? But really, you allowed it to grow. God is the gardener of our hearts if we let Him! So really, we are the gardener in a sense, because we have authority over our hearts to let in light or darkness. We must be the gatekeeper of our hearts! We must guard our hearts! Keep the devil out and let God in! It's your choice.
It is sad, because of the seeds we have allowed to be planted in our hearts, some of the seeds control us. Some sear our consciences from letting the Word of God dwell in us. We throw up guards because one person knows too much information about us, and sometimes when the Holy Spirit is guiding someone to correct someone, what the person hears is not even what was spoken because we have wrong seeds in our hearts. And those seeds have grown roots all around our mind, and now everything that comes into our mind is filtered through that very little seed that has grown.
“What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. I (Paul) planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.” 1 Corinthians 3:5-9
Who is being led by God to plant the seed, the sower; the next one waters it, but only God will give it growth. Satan has perverted everything of God and after he perverts, he can come in and bring forth growth to bad seeds.
Our hearts are God's field to work in; to build us into Christ’s image; to uproot and place in our hearts what God wants to place in; and if it is not the Word of God then our hearts are not being gardened by God.
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.” Luke 8: 11-15
A lot of us hear and take the word that is preached and apply it to work, kids, talking to other people about the word. Though if it is not rooted in your own heart for yourself, before applying it to other areas of your life, it will take no effect; or you will try to pinpoint during what you hear who it is for. And when you have an unplowed heart, the word you hear is for everybody except you. If God speaks something to the body, it's for everyone! What's written in the pages is not just for your neighbor and the world around you. It's for you!
A test comes from the word and we are taken out for 2-3 days, some of us are in a bad place for a week, because of a test of the word that we heard. Some of us don’t even know we are in a bad place, and we walk around thinking everything is okay, okay in our heart, okay in our life. The word of God was never rooted and grounded in your heart.
Hearing the word of God, however so consumed with the world, you stay in a place of immaturity in Christ. Pray the same thing, move in the same spirits, have no deliverance, sowing bad seeds into your heart, that there is no room for the word of God because of everything else that is rooted in your heart.
We need to make our hearts good ground. Good ground is a clean and pure heart for God. No Hidden Motives, No Attention Seeking, No Offenses, No Excuses; Men and Women of God who are humble to Correction from God. The ones who keep the Word of God and do the Word of God and become sowers for God’s kingdom with no expectations of return; only expecting him to pour out more. Expecting only Him. This is a pure heart. And the fruit you produce with a pure heart will reveal the image of Christ and show that he is gardening our hearts.
Sometimes, we don’t realize that our hearts are impure towards God until we are now in a situation or storm where we need to lean on God and His voice has slowly disappeared for days and now we are realizing it. You can build up so much anger towards God because of situations, offenses, and hidden agendas.
We have to get our hearts right. If you have the heart of Jonah, you need to check your heart: Jonah was selfish! He was only about the will of his father when it corresponded with his own agenda. Then when God sent him out, Jonah hid. Though when Jonah repented, the root was ripped out of his heart. Today is your day to reclaim your heart, reclaim your garden. He's full of mercy but He's calling you to come back. Rip out the roots! And garden your heart! To garden your heart is to guard your heart!
